Promoting your JBUG

Everybody knows how important it is to promote their organisation in order to attract people and JBUGs are no different. A website is a fairly inexpensive tool and if you don't have a presence on the internet you will make it difficult for people to find you.

If you don't have web design skills you can contact us and ask us to create a Social Group on community.jboss.org. This will allow you and the members of your group to promote events, create collaborative documents and hold discussions without the need to setup and maintain a website of your own.

Promoting your events

In order to give exposure to your events it's a good idea to publish your upcoming meetings. Start by posting this information on your JBUG page and then refer to it in emails which are sent to your members. You could also contact local universities or businesses and include a link to your publication.

Also make an effort to synchronise with other local user groups as together you will offer a much wider range of topics and attract more people to your events.

It is also a good idea to create a Google calendar for your JBUG as we can aggregate this into our community calendar to generate much more exposure.
